
What is Dyslexia?
Dyslexia is a neurologically based learning disability where individuals may have severe difficulties in reading fluency and comprehension, spelling and writing words.
Some also have difficulty with arithmetic.
It is characterized by impairment in the ability to process sounds and to make connections between written letters and sound.
Who is the dyslexia assessment for?
For adults between 18 and 90 years old with reading difficulties.
What is measured in the assessment?
In addition to obtaining a full background history, we will evaluate possible weakness in the following areas:
Letter and word recognition
Reading fluency
Reading comprehension
Sight vocabulary
Spelling
Working memory
Other cognitive functions – where relevant
Outline of the Dyslexia Assessment:
APPOINTMENT 1: Face-to-face
Clinical Interview – 50 min
Complete several short tests – 80 min
APPOINTMENT 2: Face-to-face or Online
Feedback session – 30 min
